Hudson Valley Retreat Center on the banks of the Hudson River
Remembrance Tree Project
Through the generosity of many of you, our retreatants and friends, we have gradually been replacing trees we have lost through time here at Linwood. We have developed a master plan with a landscape and design company. An $800.00 tax deductible donation will cover all costs of supplying and planting a tree (10'-12' high) and will include a memorial plaque. The donation could be from an individual, family, organization or club. When the tree is planted, we will send you an artistically designed certificate, suitable for framing, in honor of the person or event. The location of the tree will be kept in a log here at Linwood so that, should you wish to visit us, you can identify the location and type of tree and actually see, touch and enjoy this living gift of love.

Project Share
This is a special fund which provides for people who can't afford the entire fee or a weekend or other program offered by Linwood Spiritual Center. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. You will be especially remembered in the prayers of the Sisters and of the people who are helped by Project Share.

The Labyrinth Project at Linwood

What is a Labyrinth?
The Labyrinth is an intricate circular pattern which one walks while meditating. Unlike a maze, a Labyrinth is a walking path that always leads to the center and out again. This ancient sacred symbol of unity and wholeness can be found in many cultures and religious traditions throughout the world.
In our Catholic tradition during the Middle Ages in Europe, pilgrims who were not able to journey to Jerusalem walked the Labyrinth on a symbolic pilgrimage. One of the most well known Labyrinths is in Notre Dame Cathedral of Chartres in France. The Linwood Labyrinth design is based on the 11 circuit Chartres Labyrinth.
The meandering pathway in the circle is a metaphor for the journey of life. The cross that bisects the circle can be seen as a symbol for Christ in the world. The sacred space of Labyrinths welcomes and embraces all.
