Aunt Jane of Kentucky, 1898, Eliza C. Hall Beginning, experienced, machine and hand-quilters are all welcome to a weekend of quilting, spiritual reflection and renewal – a time away from our busy lives where we can join a sewing circle and have time for personal reflection and prayer. The weekend will be pieced together with sessions of foundation piecing, hand-quilting, appliqué, and spiritual reflection. Experienced quilters are welcome to bring along a project in progress! |

| Retreat Name: | Witnessing the Holy, Releasing the Joy A Weekend for Spiritual Directors |
| Date Start: | January 25 , 2008 |
| Date End: | January 27 , 2008 |
| Description: | Joy is the most infallible sign of the presence of God. Teilhard de Chardin, SJ Joy has a distinguished heritage in the Christian spiritual tradition. Humor and laughter are divine gifts that help us enjoy creation. Yet, the experience of joy is often an unfamiliar guest in the spiritual direction conversation. Spiritual directors invite others to build and dwell in what Catherine of Siena calls the “house of self-knowledge.” Often, we are familiar with the pain and wounded parts of our experience, but rarely do we explore the parts that have been transformed by God’s grace and witness the Holy One. This is a silent, contemplative retreat for beginning and experienced spiritual directors to reflect on and explore their holy and joy-filled experiences, to better access the transforming power of God’s grace. There will be guidance for prayer, quiet time for reflection and prayer, as well as the opportunity for group sharing. |
